As a Mac user I like to use the Magic Trackpad and the Touch ID button built into my MacBook. I wanted to recreate the experience with my Charachorder devices, so I set about making a trackpad stand with integrated Touch ID button and USB Hub and cable control to make using a Charachorder device as comfortable as possible.
The result is these devices made using lasercut wood, a sacrificial Apple Keyboard with Touch ID, an inexpensve USB3.2 hub, and assorted cables that I sourced from Amazon.com. The hub has 2 USB A ports and 4 USB C ports one of which powers the Touch ID button and one of which powers the Charachorder. The remaining ports could be used for just about anything. I also left internal space and openings to allow cables to sit inside the device to control the cable connecting the 2 halves of the Charachorder device.
